P. Willem is a drummer who stepped to the front. Paper People is the project — immersive alt-rock built on live drums, atmosphere, and the friction between who we are and who we're asked to be.

Who we are on paper isn't always who we are. These songs are about the difference — and about writing the story from within instead of rushing it onto the page.

Thirty years behind the drums, learning to listen. When it was time to speak, I knew exactly what I wanted to say.

Paper People began as a question about what survives when a person flattens themselves into a profile. In today’s world, we take on external identities layer after layer as we seek connection — all while losing connection with ourselves. The process of discovering yourself again, the transformation, is extraordinarily challenging, lonely, and painful. But the life that awaits on the other side — one of intention and freedom — is worth every ounce of effort.
